Bell Ringing
We are a group of ringers who ring the bells at All Saint’s and St Mary’s. Both churches have six bells hung for bell ringing – the bells at All Saints’ were restored in 2018.
Bell ringing is an art, a sport, and a mental challenge, and also a contribution to Church life. We practice at least once a week, ring for Church services on Sunday, and for special occasions such as weddings and national celebrations. We also ring to test our stamina and mental/technical skills by performing longer pieces of ringing as a personal or team challenge. Ringers come from all walks of life and range in age from ten to those in their eighties.
We have a bell ringing practice every Monday evening starting at 7:30pm alternating between All Saints' (on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of the month) and St Mary's (on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month). We also have a learners/improvers practice every Wednesday evening at All Saints’ starting at 7:30pm
Ringing is well within the capabilities of most people. The initial learning takes several weeks, after which you can begin to ring with the rest of the band (that’s what a team of people who ring together are called). If you are interested in learning to ring then please click here.
New ringers are always welcome!
