Think & Pray for Advent

Are you looking for an Advent Course?


A J Levine has published several "Beginner's Guides" and we've followed quite a few.  The Gospel of John is her latest and in the the usual six-week format.

 

There is a chapter to read, a short video of her introducing the topic and then we'll have the opportunity to talk about our response in a safe environment.

 

All this takes place in the context of Morning Prayer on Wednesday mornings and will once again be on zoom, the link will be sent closer to the time to all who are registered. 

 

While it is desirable to come for six weeks, please do feel free to pop in when you can.  There is a theme for each of the six weeks, but if you are able to come for even one, we hope that you will find it inspiring to take part and good to pray with others.

An Advent Devotional

Are you looking for an Advent Course?

The preparation for Christmas is one of the most joyful and busy times in the year but often we forget to step back and prepare to celebrate the heart of Christmas, the birth of Jesus.

 

Join us on Monday nights as we spend time with the From the Manger Advent Devotional, exploring the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and finally, reflecting that Good News has Come, and prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ.

 

We'll be meeting on zoom at 7.30pm and the first session will be on Monday 18 November.

One Voice

Christian Community Choir

Calling all singers!

You are warmly invited to come and join One Voice Christian Community Choir int he build up to Christmas by singing Advent and Christmas music in a range of styles from traditional carols through to contemporary settings.

Meeting every Thursday evening from 7pm - 8.15pm at St Mary's Church, Shenley Church End from 8 November thorugh to Christmas.

 

There's no cost and all are welcome to come along!  Just turn up and enjoy singing and get in the festive mood.

You are invited to come and place a bauble on our community Christmas trees, as any time throughout the season, to represent your family, to remember a loved one or as a sign of your hope and prayer for 2025.

 

Christmas Family Crafty Fun

All are welcome to join us at Servant King, Furzton for some free Christmas craft fun for all the family.  

 

There will be various activities, arts and crafts, writing a letter to Santa, decorating biscuits and you can enjoy some hot chocolate, tea or coffee.

 

Please note that all children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

A Christmas walk with a destination!

 

St Mary's churchyard will be transformed, from Saturday 21 December until Christmas Eve, into a fun Christmas trail for all.

Come and Sing:

Carols of our Time

Do you enjoy singing?

 

Come and Sing Carols of our Time is a workshop led by Jonathan Harris exploring Christmas music exclusively by contemporary female composers through the new publication 'Carols of our Time' (including 'Love has come' with words from Revd Sharon Grenham-Thompson and 'Peaceful was the night' by local composer Isabelle Norwood.

 

The afternoon will include with a short carol service.  Come for the whole afternoon or just join us for the carol service.

 

Entry is £10 to cover the costs of the music (or free if you have your own copy.)  Please book your place in advance opposite so we know we have enough music copies.
